The European Union under the Lisbon Treaty - six months of interpretation and implementation

PhDr. Juraj Chmiel, the European Affairs Minister of the Czech Republic, visited PNU and made a speech. The title is "The European Union under the Lisbon Treaty - six months of interpretation and implementation”. His lecture contained the historical meanings, important contents of Lisbon Treaty. The treaty was a milestone for a government establishment of EU and European constitution. The minister explained its meaning in the view of the delicate balance between integration and independence of members of EU. He showed and explained briefly about the enactment processes of European constitution after the conclusion of the treaty.
Although it was impossible for him to give the audiences very detailed explanations about the contents of Lisbon treaty and European constitution due to the time limitation, the audience paid quite big attention to his lecture. Some students who major in EU area studies or international politics thanked the speaker for the good lecture, and asked PNU EU Center to invite more diplomats or officials from Europe for lectures.
