(ANSA) - Athens, June 3 - Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras issued an announcement on Wednesdayhours before he departs for Brussels to meet with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem for a deal with Athens creditors. Tsipras said that the Greek government has submitted a comprehensive proposal for an honest compromise which, he argued, will put an end to the various scenarios regarding a 'Grexit' from the euro. The prime minister revealed that he has not yet received any comments or other document from Greece's partners regarding their agreement proposal. To Vima online repored that Tsipras said that it is necessary for the political leadership to adopt a more realistic outlook, which will be in the benefit of a united Europe. Tsipras stressed the need for European institutions to be realistic and underlined the need for unity.
Mario Draghi, president of the European Central Bank (ECB), on Wednesday said that a "strong" agreement is needed in negotiations on Greece. He said that he could not comment on how talks are going, but there is a "determination" to achieve a deal.
He said that the Greek government's public finances must take account of the possibility of lower economic growth and that its central bank could consider raising its cap on Greek short-term bonds if conditions exist for such a measure. But at the moment, such conditions don't exist, he said.
